With around 30% of the world's mineral reserves, the African continent offers the greatest abundance of the world’s natural resources. Africa holds 8% and 7%, respectively, of the world's proven oil and gas reserves. The recent finds in Namibia serve as more evidence of how rich and underexplored the SADC region's oil and gas resources are. Although the world is embarking on a Just Energy Transition journey, it is important for developing countries to ensure an orderly transition that is people-centered and none disruptive to economic activities. Oil and Gas offer Africa an opportunity to facilitate this orderly transition.
